The Marysville Calendar: Veterans Day, the Turkey Trot, and Merrysville for the Holidays
By Curt Simmons, Broker · WA License 51380 · Keller Williams North Sound
The stretch from Veterans Day through Christmas is a busy one in Marysville, and this year it layers nicely: a free program honoring veterans at the Opera House, a Thanksgiving morning 5K on the waterfront trail, and the city's big winter celebration back at Comeford Park. Every detail below comes from the city's own event pages and the organizations hosting them.
Veterans Day, November 10 and 11
The city's Veterans Day Celebration is Tuesday, November 10 at noon at the Marysville Opera House, free and open to the public. Veterans Day itself is Wednesday, November 11, when city offices close, and American Legion Post 178 in Marysville holds its Veterans Day open house that day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning
The Marysville Turkey Trot 5K Fun Run is Thanksgiving morning, Thursday, November 26, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Ebey Waterfront Trail. It is chip-timed, open to all ages, and you can run or walk, with a medal for every participant. Entry is $25, packet pickup starts at 8 a.m. race morning, and registration runs through the city's Parks, Culture & Recreation calendar.
Merrysville for the Holidays, December 5
The city's free winter celebration is back Saturday, December 5, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Comeford Park: a holiday market with craft and food vendors, food trucks, live reindeer, live music, free photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus (who arrive on a fire truck), the Electric Lights Parade, and the tree lighting. Details are on the city's Merrysville page.
Two more for the calendar
- The Opera House's Jigsaw Puzzle Competition is Thursday, November 5 at 6 p.m., entry $35.
- Ladies LOL Comedy Show at the Opera House, Saturday, November 14, with shows at 4 and 7:30 p.m.
Why this matters if you are house hunting
A community calendar this full in the off-season tells you something about a town. Marysville does not go quiet in November; it layers up events that are free, family-friendly, and genuinely local. If you are looking at the area, pick one of these and come see the city at its best. When you are ready to talk numbers for the type of home you want, the current market data is on the Market Report page.
